I’m Aaron, founder of Haplon. We’re building infrastructure for physical retail stores starting with grocery.
The core problem: Retail stores still operate with extremely poor real-time inventory visibility. POS systems track transactions, but they rarely reflect the true state of the shelf. This leads to stockouts, lost revenue, and poor customer experience.
Haplon is building a system that combines:
• POS integration • computer vision / OCR ingestion • inventory reconciliation pipelines • store-level analytics • in-store navigation for shoppers
The goal is to create a reliable “inventory truth layer” for physical retail.
We are starting with a pilot with a grocery chain in New York (Key Food) and are currently building the first store-side system.
Current work includes:
• POS integration layer (starting with NCR) • UPC-based inventory system • OCR ingestion from wholesale invoices / receipts • inventory reconciliation and stock velocity models • store analytics dashboard
Long-term vision: Physical retail generates massive amounts of spatial and behavioral data. Over time we plan to build large-scale world models of retail environments that can power robotics, automation, and intelligent retail infrastructure.
What we’re looking for:
A founding engineer who enjoys working on messy real-world systems and data pipelines.
Relevant experience might include:
• POS / payments integrations • distributed data pipelines • backend systems • retail or commerce infrastructure • inventory systems • applied ML / computer vision
The most important thing is strong systems thinking and ability to build pragmatic solutions quickly.
Compensation: Equity (founding engineer level). Full time salary in 1-3 months. We’re currently raising our first round.
