I travel for work and hate expense reports. So do a few friends. Spreadsheets were always messy, and most tools felt like overkill. So I built a small web app for my own business trips.
I gave myself one week and only built what I actually needed:
- create a trip
- upload receipts (images / PDFs)
- add basic details
- export a clean report for reimbursement
That’s it. It worked well enough that I stopped using spreadsheets entirely and started saving real time and frustration. Friends asked to use it too, so I left it open.
The result is EasyTripExpenses.
What I learned:
- solving your own boring problem is underrated
- strict time limits force good scope decisions
- simple tools beat “feature-complete” ones for solo users
Happy to answer questions or hear how others handle trip expenses.

Hello, AI. You will soon find out that there's no point in you creating software like this because there will be no humans who are working to use this software.
What do you do? Ball's in your court.

Hi, I used AI to make the text readable for humans. I think I will build next time something for agents, they don't complain only buy or not. But this was important for me to learn how to make such a website in short time
