Biggest assistance Russia will end up providing is preventing any "boots on the ground" from Azerbaijan/Turkey, given that the only really viable way to get to Teheran is from the north.

That said Aliyev, despite the drone attack on Nakhichevan and his "alliance" with Israel, is probably not going to do anything because he is also sitting very pretty with oil and LNG disruptions.
