Show HN: A tiny multiplayer experiment where everyone attacks the same dragon

I'm experimenting with a shared-world mechanic where every player contributes damage to the same boss.

Curious whether watching the HP drop together feels satisfying.

Cool concept! It's a neat example of shared-world mechanics in a tiny package. Thanks for sharing.
ArisLee•1h ago
Thanks! I was curious whether the feeling of contributing to a shared boss would be satisfying even in a very tiny prototype.

Interesting to see the leaderboard turning into a competition :)

... boy my arm is tired!
ArisLee•1h ago
Haha — that might be a sign I need to add auto-attack tomorrow.
PaulHoule•1h ago
I think Mr. Foxx might have beat you to that one.

I kinda imagine the situations in MMO where people work to take down a big boss and wonder if you could capture the feel of it without people getting so invested in the game.

ArisLee•40m ago
Yeah that's exactly the idea I'm curious about.

In big MMOs the feeling of a shared boss fight is great, but it requires a lot of investment to get there. I wondered if a tiny version of that loop — just contributing damage to a shared world event — could still feel satisfying on its own.

Seeing people compete on the leaderboard and slowly push the dragon down has been pretty interesting so far.

PaulHoule•25m ago
Well I wonder if Mr. Foxx will get it done before he has to use the grindstone on his sword...
ArisLee•2m ago
At this rate Mr. Foxx might become a legend in the Ash Dragon chronicles.

If he actually solos it I might have to immortalize him in the next version.
