When building UI, I kept running into the same small but annoying workflow problem.
I’d need an icon → search Google → open an icon library → download the SVG → open it in a design tool → change color/size → export → then add it to my project.
It’s a tiny task, but it adds up when you're doing it dozens of times while building dashboards, landing pages, or internal tools.
So I built IconPilot to simplify the workflow.
It lets you:
• Search common UI icons instantly
• Modify stroke width, color, and size
• Download clean SVG or PNG
• Do everything directly in the browser
The goal was to turn a 2–5 minute icon task into a few seconds.
Right now it's available as:
a Chrome extension (free)
a simple web app (more icons and options)
The focus was on speed and minimizing friction while building UI.
Some things I’m thinking about adding:
• Figma integration
• VS Code extension
• Copy-to-clipboard SVG
• ability to generate icon variants
Curious to hear from other developers and designers:
What icon sets do you use most?
What part of the icon workflow annoys you the most?
What would make a tool like this actually useful in your day-to-day workflow?
Happy to answer any questions about how it works or how I built it.
