I built this to answer a question I kept asking myself: where is the actual money in indie startups?
TrustMRR has a database of 5,400+ startups that connected their Stripe/LemonSqueezy/Polar/etc... accounts to verify revenue. The data is real not self-reported, not screenshots. But it's mostly a leaderboard, and the raw numbers hide a lot.
So I built a layer on top that computes weighted growth rates, breakout detection, category momentum, and ranks acquisition deals. Some of the stuff the data shows:
- ~100 startups account for roughly 90% of the ecosystem's MRR. The other 5,300 are mostly sub $1K.
- Simple average MoM growth across the ecosystem is meaningless a $5 startup growing to $20 inflates it. Weighted by MRR, the real ecosystem growth is much lower than what a naive average suggests.
