I'm betting workstation-class laptops may be a great choice for a self-hosted home server. That's why I ordered two from eBay last night. For a long time, I never wanted one of these, because invariably they include some Nvidia dGPU that I never cared for due to the battery drain and driver issues on Linux. Only recently did I realize that the dGPU could be passed through to a VM running in KVM while the main laptop display continues to use the iGPU. Now, I'm keen to try Proxmox running from a laptop. A hypervisor with a built-in battery seems like a cool concept.
