I've been working on my own browser project called Catly, built on GeckoView, and I just managed to outscore Chrome on the same hardware!
Device: Samsung Galaxy S21
The Results:
Chrome: 209 runs/min
Catly (GeckoView): 234 runs/min
I'm 13 and I've been focusing on aggressive optimizations and stripping down unnecessary overhead from the Gecko engine. Not only is the score higher, but the stability (\pm 2.0) is actually better than what Chrome achieved on this device.
It's been a fun challenge to see how much performance can be squeezed out of Gecko on Android. What do you guys think?
