I’ve long been fascinated by places that are past their glory days. Budapest is like that. Buenos Ares is intriguing, but doesn’t feel so much past as startlingly old world.

I wonder what happens to countries that causes them to fall behind. Maybe political turmoil. Maybe sometimes the world moving on without them. Maybe sometimes poor policy choices.

I wonder if we can learn from past mistakes or are forever doomed to repeat them.
