Remote small business in Africa is an asymmetric opportunity

2•mike_waltrude•1h ago
This is something almost no one in the west seems to know about. As of 2025, 37 African countries allow 100% foreign ownership of almost all business types. For many of them you can incorporate a company in 1-7 days, open a full business bank account, and never need to visit the country even once. You do not need a local partner. Almost all popular narrative about this is wrong. Governments do not expropriate small businesses. This only ever happens to $100m+ mining, oil and telecom companies. If you turn over less than $10m per year you are effectively invisible. There are a set of business models that are currently being operated very profitably, completely remotely, by ordinary people in Europe, USA, China and elsewhere. Margins are typically between 20% and 60%, for time commitments between 4 and 20 hours per week. These include reselling international digital services, bulk airtime, niche ecommerce, small solar, self storage and international recruitment. There is also an extremely low friction entry point arbitraging used electronics. Almost all of these have effectively no competent competition. I have written a short guide documenting all of this, with real revenue numbers, country breakdowns, and the hard earned rules for not getting scammed. I am selling it for $47. At the end of the guide I also offer paid consultation and a done for you starter pack. I am telling you this up front. I will answer any questions in the thread.
