How can the US be considered a democracy with this going on?
I flat out refuse to travel to the United States anymore for fear that I'll simply be arrested, even though I've broken no laws.
Especially on a spousal visa, so may not have the immigration attorneys constantly providing advice like an immigrant worker.
Even if true why are these people along with their children herded violently into prisons where they can be held for days/weeks/months with no recourse? Is accidentally staying too long such a terrible crime that prison and harsh sub-human treatment is the punishment? It is fucking embarrassing for the USA to be doing this.
It seems like the woman may have incorrectly thought Employment Authorization Document and its expiry date is a valid visa to stay in the country, and may have confused the expiry dates between documents. A common situation that immigration attorneys often warn about.
