Tired of AI When will this era end?

5•s_u_d_o•1h ago
First fancy LLMs, then image generation, then assistants, then agents… When will this end? I’m tired of this hype. Everytime I open HN, or any other community based platform, everyone is talking about AI. Why does this ick me? Am I alone? Simply because i’ve spent my past years, learning how to code, building stuff, reading docs, debugging, scraping through stackoverflow etc…. Am I just, jealous? Or is it really a bad feeling to see something you enjoyed doing, doesn’t seem enjoyable nowadays…. When will this hype end? Will the future be even deeper? I am unable to cope. And every year it gets harder. I just miss the old days, is this an SDDS? Software Developer Dementia Syndrome? All new products, all new launches, everything is now a wrapper of some LLM’s API. I used to hate that everyday we had a JS framework/library… but now I just wish we can get back there, lol. But yeah, this is tech, we have to normalized and accept it and ride the wave. The only problem is I hate vibe-coding… the most beautiful thing in the Tech was taken away from us… coding. Yeah like or not, at this rate 5-6 years from now, i think it will be obsolete. What do we do next?

I don't have the answer about "what to do in 5 years"

But, I think in this year you can avoid reading HN if the news about AI hurt. AI only exists if you let it inside your brain, you can remove most of AI by not reading news

My solution is to code more challenging stuff. I vibe code but it's also complicated enough that the AI can't do everything for me which requires me to use my brain and solve problems. It's still fun for me.

Coding has been becoming a commodity for at least a decade. If you are trying to compete in this market because you “codez real gud” - good luck with that.

Every open req gets hundreds of applications within the first day and it’s almost impossible to stand out. AI has just accelerated the process
