I recently made a Show HN post, Show HN: HTMLPipe, and how to archive archive.is pages on archive.org manually [0]
Now today I went onto see my Email and saw their mail whose image is in the catbox link that I have shared above.
It is very obviously an AI generated message. Most of what I do is non-profit related right now, it's also clear that they used my mail from my about-me/profile page on hackernews. I also imagine this to be very predatory, they basically tracked my show hn post and my projects are all non-profit or just cool ideas that I tinker around but I can imagine that someone might have worked for their project for months for example, then these messages feel like back alley deals like "come use us" etc.
Has anyone else also gotten this message? I feel like Hackernews is having an bit of an AI spam problem even when the moderators have updated the rules of the website.
I also want to talk a bit more about the general state of hackernews after seeing [1], seeing an AI generated post saying I read X when they hadn't and people were upvoting it till 9-10 when I see many genuinely awesome posts get stuck at a few points (not mine, mine are maybe-mid at best)
My mail is open to every human on hackernews, if you have a product, do not send me automated message and just do a little bit background search and act-human.
But I don't have my Email open to these AI I read Y messages and complete AI generated texts or e-mails.
This is somewhat similar to rob pike AI slop thing but on a more hackernews level.
