~75% of Psychology Claims Are False

We have a need. We need to be able to send people with head problems to a head doctor that can fix them up and send them on their way like a regular doctor can with physical ailments.

The job of a psychologist is to pander to that fantasy by presenting themselves as professional, credentialled, empirical and authoritative. They need not be truthful, they need merely be truthy.

If we scrutinize them too hard the illusion falls apart and we're left with a bunch of crazy people that we don't know what to do with, and that's a worse outcome.

I'm personally of the belief that the language and ideas embraced by totemic religions are better suited for describing conditions of the human mind or spirit than what modern psychology has prescribed us because the language used isn't gate-kept or dehumanizing.
