Basically I think, guys, I'm looking at this menagerie of superpowers developing, almost like exponentially every day, and I think the time is now to do something about it, raise the alarm and try to make the iPhone moment for AI happen now, now, now.
Obviously we're taking our sweet time right now getting the smartphone class of LLMs squared away, not an insignificant task I understand, but that's one thing, right, I see it as needing to happen pretty quick here and it kinda needs to be pretty damn good, all over again, somehow.
I think most tech orgs are looking at AI, looking at normies, and wondering like "Ok, what chat UI am I going to end up putting you in", but would you agree it's much more important that we take what currently looks like power usage today and bring that capability much lower down?
I want to know, from you, what do you see as the necessary pathway here?
I guess one small anecdotal vignette here is that I just see more and more people rubbing their grifty hands together online, and like, thinking they're going to either make an AI to-do app or otherwise just sell a course on it, and go nomad and poast for a living, and I just feel like that take is increasingly becoming a moral failing, and that we need a full closed loop on AI from Silicon Valley to mom and pop main street, and to me I think history is going to look back and identify a clear responsibility here from this generation of technologists, whether or not we fumble or fulfill that responsibility.
What are we gonna do folks? What is it gonna take?
