I started FundaAI with a question; how can I help self-driven kids in Zimbabwe first (my home) and later Africa, to build them up globally competitive software engineers.

I saw a younger version of myself in my nephew; a self-driven learner.

FundaAI is an AI School it is two fold;

1. A virtual campus 2. A virtual apprenticeship

With the virtual campus, kids get laptops that run a local LLM model than syncs with larger models whenever they are online.

This is the "AI brain" that powers an ecosystem of AI Tutors (text based desktop apps) gamified to help kids build practical problem solving skills aligned with software engineering

The virtual apprenticeship is where the real magic happens. I have built a small open source community of engineers with African roots. Kids in our pilot program are matched with engineering teams to either build or debug existing AI Tutors.

This is designed to give them practical experience and help surface the passion for engineering in the right minds.
