The proposal would implement a requirement passed by Congress to include automatic registration for "every male citizen of the United States" between the ages of 18 and 26.

What's the difference between that and what's in place now? I thought every male had to register within 30 days of their 18th birthday.

That mandatory isn’t the same as automatic?

Also, I’d guess that there are a ton of people who are not in fact aware of that requirement.
