Anthropic logs everything, obviously as they are a data company, even API usage goes through their server without some sort of enclave (they could, they decide not to), I highly doubt people think that their prompts aren't recorded.
Smaug123•1d ago
And they retrained it within five minutes, or else Claude has access to real-time traffic logs or something while claiming not to? I state again that the text is completely novel; and I've had friends replicate this result using my text, so it's not metadata.
twaldin•1d ago
its realistic to assume anthropic (and other frontier labs) have already gobbled the entire surface of the public internet into training data, plus so much more llm-generated traning data, that if you have public works and a model has enough parameters, i guess you are now 'in the models knowlege' the same way a figure like michael jackson or elon musk would be 'baked into the weights of the model' scary.
pixel_popping•1d ago
What they claim is a bit irrelevant tbh, it's on their servers, their DB, they do, they don't, we will never know, so we must assume they do. It goes against their business to trash data for no reason, so why would they.
roscas•1d ago
Change the title to "After Microsoft, Google and Facebook, Claude knows who you are, where you live and what you do or don't".
Smaug123•1d ago
I don't think the others could recognise me from 450 words of general writing for less than 50 cents, though.
y0eswddl•17h ago
There's so much public data about us on the internet, that every single one of us is likely in every frontier model's training data by now.
