It does require internet (to upload and retrieve the recordings, but not to operate). It's a publicity stunt by Prego, though:

Not that it's a bad stunt, but it seems like a cool device, maybe a little too inexpensive at $20, other than reporters - I wonder if anyone's going to see them IRL.
