Evangelical Christianity demands that adherents have a personal relationship with Jesus. That demand makes such Christianity different than other branches. Evangelicals getting worked up about Trump portraying himself as Jesus is in line with beliefs. Evangelicals have avoided doctrines, dogmas and canons, so they don't have specific sins like heresy, blasphemy and sacrilege, but borrowing from denominations that do, Trump committed sacrilege I think.
