Good to compare this take with Daring Fireball. His lens is that Tim was a company man who did what was good for the narrow and focused interests of Apple the institution, which he unequivocally was exceptionally successful at. This piece is from the lens that Apple exists to serve the wider disparate and unfocused preferences of its users...the legacy of Jobs is that people think this is the case, but it is not. (I can't stand Apple gear, hardware or software. It is far too opinionated and narrowly designed for me, it makes me angry.)
