Ask HN: Is there a good CV review service for tech roles in Switzerland?

3•swissdom•1h ago
Hi HN.

I spend a lot of time reviewing CVs for tech roles in Switzerland, and I keep seeing the same problem: many CVs are poorly structured or hard to read, full of graphic glitches, even when the candidate has strong potential. With a CVlike this, the chances of success unfortunately drop significantly, many people focus on the "form" rather than just the content. I’m not saying to start from scratch, but rather help the candidate understand where they need to improve. If they really don’t know how to do it, I can do it for them, for a fee. But I’d like the focus to remain on guiding the candidate to write a proper resume. Often, in addition to confusing or overly colorful templates, important information is missing (whether you already have a work permit, whether you’re an EU citizen… in short, essential information for applying for jobs in Switzerland).

In my mind, a simple website where users can upload their resumes and information about the jobs they’d like to apply for, and enter their email addresses, would be more than enough, they could then receive feedback and, if needed, paid revisions.

I’m considering starting a small CV review service focused on tech candidates in Switzerland.

I’d like to know if anyone is already doing this and what do you think makes a CV review service actually useful?

I’d appreciate any feedback from people who have tried something similar, used such a service, or hired for tech roles in Switzerland.

Thank you!
