There were an usually large number of big prize winners in last night's Powerball drawing. The drawn white balls form an arithmetic progression, with a common difference of 16.

I wonder why those numbers. Tried looking at the number selection sheet and did not see anything obvious (to me) that would lead to picking those. It looks like different states have different selection sheets. Do the quick pick machines lean towards giving out tickets with arithmetic or other patterns.

Are there numbers (like these) that you should avoid? Pick birthdays, common sequences and you are likely to have to share the jackpot. Maybe this is a time the OEIS can be your friend. Before you pick a number check if that sequence exists and someone might share your interest and pick the same number.
