The time has come and I finally launched Yumi, my product that I've been working on for the past while.
There was a lot of back and forth, tears, stress, hard grind, and really just the thought of will I even get to launch Yumi. Many questions popped up in my head. Would I ever launch? Would I even make a cent out of this? Would I have the brain capacity left after all of this? Would I achieve the goals I want out of building this? How long can I hang onto Yumi before I call it quits? And the list goes on and on.
I was about to throw it all away during the pre-launch phase into the corner and into the void. I really didn't have the will and drive to keep on going. I really didn't to be honest. But there was this resistance I couldn't describe easily. The more I wanted to give up, the more force I used to push back against it. It was a miracle that I still stood up after everything. I knew it wasn't my time to let go of Yumi yet. I couldn't leave behind something I put my heart and energy into so soon.
The thought of throwing Yumi away while I was basically daily driving it and also developing it in a way to replace the apps I wanted to get rid of, felt too harsh to let go that quickly. The more I thought about it, I made the decision to give it one last shot at pushing through, even if things weren't perfect.
And fast forward to now. Here I am standing in this position to say all of this.
No matter the outcome, I know that I got a lot out of building Yumi. And that's what matters. The journey was a wild one and that's a whole story I could ramble about for hours. The initial stages, the crazy ideas, being lost in my own thoughts, the pivoting, the experimentation, and so forth.
I did my best up until now. And I'm glad I stuck through to some extent. I'm proud of how Yumi turned out regardless of its imperfections. That's a win and I'll take it.

Anyways, let me explain what Yumi is.
Yumi is a desktop workspace app with AI chat, notes, and web research. It also includes extra built-in tools so that you can amplify your workflow with. You're able to do your research, thinking, and writing in one place without the context switching fatigue. Simple and elegant.
By design, the core features were developed as isolates. That means I was able to shape Yumi into either cloud, a mix of cloud + local, or fully local. And the awesome thing is that Yumi offers every one of these via tiers so you can choose what works best. It was kind of a happy accident because I did a bit of a last second pivot/repositioning and everything just fell into place so seamlessly.
The Free tier is a cloud-only demo. It gives you a taste of Yumi before upgrading.
The Pro tier is $10/month or $96/year. You get both cloud + local features in one package to get the best of both worlds. This can be stacked on top of the Lifetime tier if you wish to do so.
The Lifetime tier is $150 at a one-time purchase. This is the fully local variant of Yumi that you can own. No cloud features. No subscription. You get to keep it.
Looking forward to seeing what's next in the journey of building Yumi :)
