I assumed post offices would pretty much be obsolete when email was available, but people ship packages and ~100 trees worth of court documents daily(correct me if my estimate is wrong, please).
I stopped spending time on the main social media platforms because, aside from constant altercations, people assume that electricity, the servers, the ISPs, etc will always be there. What can someone do with millions of views on Instagram videos? I can't purchase sustenance with it. I cannot send a message to my friends with it. Then though, there is the deforestation and other ecological issues. If everyone started sending letters instead of emails...flora and fauna would take a major hit.
I don't know what the best thing to do is, communication-wise, besides prevent humans from depleting resources for unnecessary things, but you know how that usually works out and, who determines what is necessary and what isn't?
