I think a lot of time and energy perhaps gets mis-spent on this but the title is right - if you can watch it, you could use any one of a number of methods (incl. capture cards) to record whatever is on your screen, and to some extent I maybe think this is fine? Is it not relatively rare that the whole value is the video itself?

I remember all of the discussions on the Internet (and HN) about how software and video piracy isn't theft. Now that AI is doing the same thing to many of the same people that supported it (IE: taking in large amounts of open source and your own info as training data to reduce wages to $0 at some point), there's calls for free money and somehow stopping it from happening.

You wouldn't download a car. Indeed.
