The AI Layoff Receipts

A few problems with the article:

1. Lumping Intel into the statistics is bad. Intel was not doing layoffs because of AI efficiency. They had to do it so they don't go bankrupt and because their CPUs and fab were both losing to competitors.

2. Would the companies have been even worse without the layoffs?

3. Transition takes time. Many companies offered generous layoff packages which affected margins for a short period of time.

4. Companies who were doing AI layoffs were likely weaker companies in general.
