The just-say-no engineer was a ZIRP phenomenon

The connection to ZIRP makes sense but the tie-in to AI isn’t quite right imo.

As he points out, vibe coding is pretty obviously a good reason to have a “just say no” person. There’s bigger quantities of worse stuff being churned out than in the ZIRP days, even if it’s by slightly fewer people.

It’s the collective AI psychosis that’s ended the role. Few care about quality now, having been AI generated now ticks all the boxes, and anyone who tries to block it (or existentially worse, refuses to review AI slop at all) is a dinosaur from an irrelevant age that doesn’t understand the power of AI, and needs to be re-educated or dropped.

We need people saying no more than ever, but if we let them it would burst the bubble or show that the emperor is naked or whatever, so we can’t allow it.
