Show HN: Trickster's Table – 20 free trick-taking card games with AI opponents

https://tricksterstable.playagame.app
1•dbravender•43m ago
Hi HN, I’m Dan. I made Trickster's Table, a free mobile and web-based app for playing modern trick-taking card games against AI opponents.

The app currently includes 20 games, including Stick 'Em, Yokai Septet, Potato Man, Best of Neapolitan, Pala, Torchlit, and several newer/smaller titles that are otherwise hard to try. I've been adding them with permission from the designers/publishers. The goal is to make it easier for people to learn some new modern trick taking games. Many people have told me they found new games through the app that they enjoy playing with their friends and families in real life.

On the technical side, I started out training neural networks for the AI, then switched to pure tree search in Rust. Later, I ported the game logic to TypeScript so there was just one language to deal with and it can run in the browser. I'm planning to write more about what I've learned from three years of working on the project.

Please let me know what you think!
