I'd love to not see the up/downvotes on my own posts or anyone else's. Same goes for my karma in the upper right hand corner of the UI. Is there a way to hide them?

Sounds like custom CSS could do that for you.
Maybe easiest to use one of the plugins that allow you to change the CSS for a website.
The HTML used by HN is simple.
After you discover how to do it with tooling, you'll apply the same technique to other places too.

Can we have a feature to require a reason for downvoting, and "Fact I don't like" not being permitted as a reason ?
