Turns out it's because Roku is dead simple to use, your parents, grandparents can easily navigate around Roku and find apps and stuff to watch.
I thought well why not do this with AT4K so I wrote a lot of code to make an alternative view in AT4K that would look like that. But that didn't work and I had to branch out this to a new app but used most of the code from AT4K.
So here it is Kyu Launcher An Android TV Launcher built for everyone and their grandma. It's dead simple to use, you can create folders, hide apps, view your currently watching list, your spouse can even add to-dos/notes right at the launcher home page and you can hide most of the stuff you don't want. Recently Roku shoved down a new update to their interface and most people, as is the case with the design changes almost always, do not like it. If they want to ditch the Roku and want to keep the interface they can use Kyu to keep the Roku feel and enjoy their android tvs.
There are some beautiful themes too. I made it because I liked what I saw with Roku and wanted to port similar experience to Google TV devices. I also know it's not something with lots of bells and whistles I wanted to share it anyway.
Most of the stuff including folders, changing colors, hiding things, moving around etc are free, if you want to however change app icons to something from your gallery or use premium themes there is a one-time purchase of 3.99 or equivalent to your currency. That's to support and maintain the app.
