i added slide animations to tmux and would be happy to have testers try it out and find systems it isn't exactly working on to see if my approach is valid. i'm using a similar approach to text sliding as neoscroll vim-scroll etc. given how this is a purely visual change, i'm hesitant to even PR this, so the approach i took was to design the functionality as a patch to be applied. i'm not sure how long i'll support it, but if there's interest in seeing this type of functionality in tmux more, i'll consider it over other projects. would be really happy to hear suggestions for further iterations and improvements too
