Let's face it - no career in the world had so little difference between "outwards romanticised appearance" and "actual everyday reality", as the profession of a coder. There was some, but it wasn't really bad 95% of the time, true horror stories are rare and for some of us, they never happened in their entire careers.

And this is the real loss we are all mourning to this day. Whatever new we find to replace our coding jobs with, will certainly be a lot messier.
