It will be interesting to see near-universal use of Claude (which is the worst it's ever going to be today) to write and re-write code change this. "AI" has no human cognitive biases and no "5 plus or minus 3" limitations. I, for one, expect identifier length to grow to very large lengths.

Longer identifiers do take more tokens in the context window, tho.
