Ask HN: Anyone got a 43" 4K? Thoughts?

2•herodoturtle•1h ago
I’m getting old and my eye sight is beginning to deteriorate.

I like 4K resolution but my current 32” display is just to fine, and up scaling text means I lose out on real estate.

Thinking of getting a 43” ultrasharp to continue enjoying my 4K comfort zone.

Wondering if any of y’all have insights to share.

With thanks from an ageing vim guy.

This could be the best choice if you want to maintain the same text scale and while increasing readability. Unless it's a curved screen or kept far away from the eyes, you'll probably notice a slight fisheye lens effect when focusing on things at the far corners of the screen. This could be improved by moving the screen further back, if your desk allows it.

Alternatively, what if your got a 2nd 32" screen and then increased the text scaling? Both screens would lose real estate, but you'd also have more total screen space. This might be the better option unless you're limited to a single screen for some reason (limited ports/bandwidth, M1/M2 Macbook Air models, or lack of desk width).
