Nice! I might try this out on a laptop. I like toying with different ditros. I am a daily user of Omarchy on my PC. I previously bounced off Hyprland (and Wayland by extension) a few times, and the Omarchy OOTB experience made it easier to switch.

That said, I wonder if it's now okay to say that systemd won the Linux wars.

grigio•1h ago
Yes systemd won, but the systemd-free alternatives are still alive. dinit is like systemd but it is just an init system, many minimalists will like it.

Didn't Antix Linux beat KaOS by already shipping dinit before them. I'm an Antix Linux fanboy and I know that they were working on dinit like 2025 November? My memory may fail me but they were working on dinit in 2025 then this year Antix released 26 in March while KaOS has done it in June this year. But yes I like that KaOS is rolling release and I do want to try it

Also Artix, Chimera,.. have dinit, but KaOS is the first distro do ship Noctalia V5 which is currently unreleased yet but it is amazing powerful for its RAM usage.
