Google's end state is the Library of Babel. They cant escape it.

The rate that which they can filter out garbage from their results has long since been eclipsed by the rate at whicb content(ie mostly garbage) is produced. An environment they created without too much thought.

By making the cost of generating content, cost of email, cost of messaging, cost of Broadcasting (bullshit) to everyone etc etc essentially zero, they have brought this reality upon themselves. History will remember them as a totally unconcious buffoon class of characters scaling things mindlessly because that is the only skill they have.

So now their entire business depends on surfacing a tiny fraction of the web rather than exposing everything equally.

They have created a situation where they cannot escape constant ever increasing pressure from people trying to manipulate them. So we get SEO abuse, link farms, content farms, affiliate spam, AI-generated low-value pages, phishing and scam sites, and offlate globally coordinated misinformation campaigns.

All possible because Google and its self delusions exist
