App iOS/Android

1•Andrew_Huynh•16h ago
If you could download one iOS/Android app that offers a free tool for work, everyday life, learning, etc., what would you want that app to be? I'm really eager to build an app but don't have an idea yet. Feel free to share your thoughts !

A multi-purpose survey / map / navigation tool that integrates with photos which have captured / include location data.

Download once and use as long as one wants.

Actually it's quite complicated and really needs a good design flow chart to fully explain. There's no tool like this yet as far as I am aware, so can't point to comparisons.

Bonus if it also works albeit lesser degree (accuracy) with older phones that have only GPS. Tool should be able to select which GNSS [1] that's available via the device even if there's an auto default.

Able to accurately guide [variable for accuracy required] the user along a predefined track of multiple points by way of: simple entry of map coordinates, via direct input, a text file of locations or group of photos with location data, as best the accuracy of the device / landscape enables. Able to edit and reorganise route point - see the route on a simple map based on the coordinates alone. Be able to overlay a second or third group of coordinates which might frame a boundary of area to surveyed or ignored, or a road / track / creek with an alert on approach.

Bonus for able to be able to overlay free map solutions of the locality.

Photo input via a group of photos would assume a track from start to the next closest location to the end location, start and end selected and able to work out and display planned path via screen map or other output means ie text only mode if required, (bright areas some people find photos hard to see,) should also be able to highlight those which were taken at markedly different heights, or different days, years. (eg for accidental inclusion of a lookout point which is probably one easy way up or down.) Should before embarking, able to display a map with photo ids displayed along the route with the ability for the user to use the touch screen to select / ignore photos they want to track to / through, and being able to have the option to set the next location manually. While tracking, warn the user by some means, vibrate or audible tone they are approaching near the location. Differentiate timing of warning to correspond for the speed of travel. Handy if there's something meaningful that is meant to be monitored / surveyed at or near these locations. Eg nesting location, survey mark, peg, gauge, and not actually walking but using a vehicle to travel.

Able to record a track from beginning point to end along a survey line straight, or following topographic level, a curve or bend of a water course or other, apply correlation to the route to smooth out small variations (variable to be specified) to simplify a smooth navigation of a route that is parallel x distance away, multiple iterations if need be.
