Season DFS blends traditional fantasy football leagues with the DFS (daily fantasy sports) fantasy format. There isn't wide support in the market to run leagues like this and the ones that do have it as a secondary focus, so I made one where the whole platform is based on DFS.
I have been running a league like this for a few years through one of the biggest DFS providers out there, DraftKings, combined with an Excel spreadsheet. The league itself has turned into my favorite league just based on the format. The logistics of running and participating in the league through DK, though, leaves a lot to be desired. Since DK makes money from running paid contests, this type of season-long league will never be their focus and the current implementation is just kind of bolted onto their main platform.
I decided to build out my own product here and address the things that I found myself wanting. The people in my league share a lot of the same excitement for the league so I figured there's gotta be a market for this. I mean, there doesn't have to be, but to me it seems like it!
To be brief on the format, it is all about submitting a new lineup every week. There is not a pre-season draft, no roster management like trades or waivers, it is purely just the weekly lineup submission. There's much to be said about the customizations and experience the platform provides, but that is the core of it.
For the main tech, the stack is Svelte 5 and SvelteKit, Firebase (auth, hosting, serverless, database, real-time data), Google Cloud Storage, and Tailwind.
