It's frustrating to see open source used as a tool to damage market competition and therefore consumer choice.

But it's also interesting to see that reality didn't quite turn out the way that Sam is musing here and instead other companies from other countries are doing to OpenAI what he wanted to do to the industry as a whole.

And yet some with similar actions but the roles reversed end consumers seem to be awash in free and paid models to use.
