The Rise and Fall of Google's Privacy Sandbox

This caught our attention because it gets at many of the same issues we’re working on at Adreva.

Our take is that the privacy sandbox failed because Google was trying to add privacy without changing the incentives behind advertising. The system is still built around extracting value from people’s data and attention without making them meaningful participants in the process, which is exactly what we are building by bringing consumers in as incentivized partners.

For those who followed the privacy sandbox, why do you think it failed?

murzynalbinos•24m ago
Adoption was basically dead long before Google pulled the plug, which says more about the incentives than the tech itself.
omrigross•18m ago
Agreed. so do you think unless there are incentives for the users there just really isn't any true demand for privacy or data sovereignty? Or are users just so used to the status quo being there is no other option and giving up their data is just how it works?
