When was the last time that after an update you felt yourself as if being exposed to something amazing, having as if a radioactive feeling across your arms that you’re actually holding something you’ve long waited for, something brand new?
I want to tell you about an app I’ve put in not a year or a half, but a part of a lifespan. A handcrafted keyboard, where I took an open source keyboard with all its features, all its cons and caveats - with over 100,000 lines of code(!) and with no fear - over the course of 15 years, I designed and I fixed and I refined, corner by corner, bug after bug what eventually became the product I wanted - a keyboard I proudly call my personal masterpiece.
In my app, Effectedkeyboard 2, when you type a letter, there is no static preview, but rather there is a small live animation. For example, when I press a key on my setup, the letter gently grows, and the moment I release it, it seamlessly resizes right back into place. It’s incredibly subtle, it’s alive, and it feels absolutely beautiful.
There’s no enough words to describe it and it is meticulously feature-full and simple. Would you mind to take a look and share your thoughts, e.g. Whether you’d like to adopt it as your regular keyboard?
The app is called Effected Keyboard 2 and it’s available on Android:
