Linkly Clipper – Save Web as Agent-Friendly Markdown

This is a free browser extension, serving as a free alternative to common clipping software.

Traditional clipping software saves web pages in a format that's not convenient for Agents like Codex to use. Even if CLIs or MCPs are provided, reading local files directly is always more convenient. After using Obsidian as a note-taking software for daily use, I thought about how to make clipping local as well, for the convenience of Codex and without additional costs. Hence, this extension was born.

The extension utilizes Chrome's sidebar, allowing it to function as a conversion plugin as well as a reading mode (Chrome's built-in reading mode stopped working properly at some point). Coincidentally, Chrome now comes with a nano-level model, so the extension also includes a free one-click translation feature and a one-click feature to reconstruct titles and directories.

The extension can be used independently or paired with our client software to achieve a complete workflow: clipping - saving to a specified directory - adding to a knowledge base - publishing to an MCP knowledge base server. We are also researching how to integrate the extension's capabilities with the client's ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) capabilities to transcribe subtitles from podcasts and videos without existing subtitles.
