Some interesting examples but to nitpick... Apple explicitly bans executing code that isn't bundled within the app and they historically don't revise these rules unless it's to include fees for something. It seems more likely this scenario where apps are generated on the fly would actually come at the demise of the iPhone.

But then there's their next example, Whatsapp, and I think this really highlights how far we are from this scenario: yeah AI might churn out a GUI for typing messages very easily, but you also need it to spin-up the cloud infrastructure to support it, communicate your spec to the people you want to communicate with, and have their phones generate a compatible client too, and everything be secure and safe, lot of moving parts there. I think there's going to be a lot of apps that are "safe" for a while yet, but a lot of lower-hanging fruit is obviously doomed especially apps that are just data interfaces or utilities like recipes and timers.

Agreed OpenAI would be the most likely candidate for getting the ball started on this, they've got a cross-section of the best designers and engineers for it, and derailing their smartphone efforts is obviously very important to Apple judging by the lawsuit.
