If we want to put pressure on new datacenters to mitigate their externalities I'd prefer they would somehow be investing in the local communities they impact, in areas like electricity generation and water infrastructure. Having them pay a federal tax that's just going to go to more missiles for Hegseth to shoot into Iran seems like a big missed opportunity.
