Another possible explanation is that movie sex scenes might not be outright hardcore porn, and deal with emotional connection which Gen Z might be having issues with, in part due to all the porn that has been in their faces from an early age.

Sex scenes are a form of pandering, but not the only one. Rare is the modern film that doesn't use some cheap mechanism to get audience response.

So a 40% drop in sex/nudity since 2000 in movies. I'd be curious to see the breakdown by type of movies. The demise of the teen sex comedy couldn't come fast enough for me. Ditto the trope of murdering every young women who disrobes in a horror movie.

But it would be sad to see all depictions of healthy, emotionally connected sex banished from the screen. Given what I keep hearing about young people not having sex, it seems like it would almost be a public service (Schoolhouse Rock for Gen Z?)
