There have been accusations of plagiarism, of AI written text, of published biographical stories not being true, and on, and on, and on.
Honestly, even if all of these accusations were true - and there are plenty of people prepared to say at least some of them are not - it didn't deserve the media scrutiny and pile-on that he was subject to.
Why did it happen? I think most people can tell you why. Look at his photo. It's the first thing you notice.
If you tell me you're "colour blind", what you mean is you don't care about prejudice, even (perhaps especially), when it exists and destroys a man's life. I'm white, I'm not colour blind because that diminishes many of the people in my life and their lived experience.
He's dead because he's black, and there are parts of our society that just can't handle having a black man as a professor at Cambridge, even in 2026.
As somebody who strives to be proud of the UK and its aspirations, this story makes me feel sick.
