I created Talk because I liked the idea of text chats where the here and now is what matters — without the history of previous messages, where you only see and read a message if you were there at that moment. At the same time, I didn't like some of the old attributes of such chats — for example, rooms and private spaces. So I made Talk completely public. Everything that happens in the stream is visible to all connected users. At the same time, everyone can narrow the stream for themselves, filtering out what they don't want to see. All connected users can read. Only authorized users can write, and authorization itself is made simple. Message delivery is handled via SSE. Cloudflare is used as the control plane, and C++/epoll nodes handle live message delivery. Ultimately, I just want to understand: is this type of communication necessary in the 21st century?
