Ask HN: Calorie Trackers

2•solsane•47m ago
Hi HN. Trying to get into calorie tracking. Only tried MyFitnessPal. Looking to strike a balance between being concious about what I eat and tracking with a reasonable degree of accuracy and flexibility (e.g. eating out).

Interested in hearing what other people’s experiences with calorie tracking have been like and lessons

I feel like MyFitnessPal is fully enshittified. I use FoodNoms which I think is iOS only but the developer really takes advantage of all the iOS features like shortcuts and stuff so I have my phone set up to trigger the AI calorie estimator with the action button on my phone. Oh also yeah there is an AI estimator. Its not cutting edge but it gets you in the ballpark. I feel like in the past when counting calories I sometimes choose not to eat because I don't know the calories or I choose not to track something because I don't know the calories. With an AI estimator that is no longer a problem. FoodNoms has a free version but you really need the subscription so its not free but its worth it to me.
