Tell HN: Even HN is getting heavy traffic by AI crawlers

7•ksec•1h ago
For about half an hour I wasn't able to access HN, and then there was a message about network traffics and HN is now prioritising human logged in users. First time I have seen this.

I had to reread the sentence because in the past when server was getting heavy traffic the general advice was to log out. Now it is the other way around.

I wonder what sort of traffic is HN receiving now under AI crawlers. And if other have also seen the new message.

"HN is down more frequently so therefore it must be AI" does not logically follow.
ksec•53m ago
It specifically mention Human readers. Although Yes the other side of the coin doesn't have to be AI it could be any web crawler.

HN is coded by AI now, at least in part, so that may be an issue wrt bloat and inefficiency in the codebase.
